 Chapter 530. Comprehensive Sign Code

  § 530.020. Signs By District.

  • A. 
    All Zoning Districts.
    1. 
    The following signs are permitted in all zoning districts:
    2. 
    Except as is otherwise set forth in this Sign Code, the following signs shall be prohibited in all of the City's zoning districts:
    a. 
    Standard outdoor advertising structures.
    b. 
    Flashing lights or those that appear to move (except seasonal holiday decorations).
    c. 
    Moving signs.
    d. 
    Roof signs.
    e. 
    Signs on public street right-of-way (other than public notices).
    f. 
    Signs that are in disrepair or hazardous.
    g. 
    Signs with words or colors confusing to motorists or which block vision at entrances, intersections or sharp curves.
    h. 
    Signs for uses no longer in existence.
    i. 
    Projecting signs.
    B. 
    Commercial Corridor District.
    1. 
    The following signs are permitted subject to the applicable regulations:

    Except as otherwise set forth in this Sign Code, the following signs shall be prohibited in the City's "C" District:
    a. 
    Box signs.
    b. 
    Pole signs.
    c. 
    Fluttering signs including banners (excluding temporary civic activity/street signs), balloons and pennants or other devices.
    d. 
    Standard outdoor advertising structures that are over seventy-five (75) square feet in size and/or are illuminated.
    C. 
    "A" And "B" Residential Zoning Districts.
    1. 
    The following sign types are permitted:

    2. 
    Except as otherwise set forth in this Sign Code, the following signs shall be prohibited in the City's "A" and "B" Residential Districts:
    a. 
    Advertising.
    b. 
    Banners for advertising (does not include street banners for civic events).
    c. 
    Standard outdoor advertising structures.
    d. 
    Flashing lights, neon lights or those that appear to move (except seasonal holiday decorations).
    e. 
    Moving signs.
    f. 
    Roof signs.
    g. 
    Signs on public street right-of-way (other than public notices).
    h. 
    Signs that are in disrepair or hazardous.
    i. 
    Signs directly painted on any wall or any wall of any structure.
